    It's a rural district ( commune) made up of 5 villages: Iana, Halaresti, Silistrea, Recea and Vadurile with a combined population of about 3500 - 4000 people. It's located some 30 km north west of the city of Barlad, in the wine-making region of the Tutova hills.
