Best places to visit in Italy and France?
-
I'm from Romania and I want to go back there for Summer next year to visit my grandparents, so I thought I might as well make a trip of it and see two other countries. They would drive to Rome to pick me up and we would spend 3 days there (though we wouldn't actually spend the 2nd day in Rome, we'd drive to Naples as a day trip to see Vesuvius and Pompei. There's no point spending a few days in Naples too because we will be enjoying the Mediterranean in France, and the trip is already too long), then we would drive up and spend 2 days in Florence (stopping to see Perugia on the way for a few hours), 1 day seeing the rest of Tuscany (San Gimigniano, Montierggioni and Pisa), then we'd stop in Genoa for half a day and Milan for just a few more hours on the way to France. We'd then spend 1 day in Nice (I'd love to go to Monte Carlo too, but there's no point because I'm under 18), 2 in Cannes and 1 in Marseilles, then drive up (stopping for half a day in Orleans), spend 2 days in Paris and spend another half day in Reims on the way to Romania, where we would drive to via Germany-Austria-Hungary. After spending 3 weeks in Romania (I'd need 3 weeks to visit family and to travel around Romania too), we would drive back to Italy via Serbia and Slovenia (for a change of scenery, rather than going back through Hungary and Austria) to see the East coast: we'd spend 2 days in Venice, 2 seeing Romagna (Forli, Ferrarra, Bologna and Ravenna) and then we'd drive back to Rome where I'd catch a flight home. My question is if there's any other cities in Italy or France which would really be worth seeing, if there are any cities on the list which aren't really worth the trip and also if we are spending enough time in each city. The trip is already long enough (I'm taking time off school for this) and it would be kind of hard to stuff more in (otherwise I'd like to visit Spain too) but if there's something really important I've missed then I'm sure we can spare an extra couple of days. Thanks in advance.

You pretty much have covered it! I would say though to take the boat ride from Venice to Burano for a day trip. It is my favourite city by far. The scenery is magnificent.
