A european's idea of a dream vacation?
-
If you ask any north american what their idea of a dream vacation is, they'll probably say something like london, rome, paris, or any major european city. But i've always wondered, for people who live in these popular tourist destinations, what's YOUR idea of a dream vacation? Since you live in these cities, you're pretty much on vacation everyday. But is there any city you're dying to visit?

Answer:
Personally - somewhere with nice beaches, sunshine and culture/things to see - perhaps Thailand or Oz :)

The cities I want to go to are Amsterdam, Moscow or berlin. Somewhere like that. I've already been to a lot of places in Italy, France and Spain etc so I want to go somewhere different. I like city break type things. For a bigger holiday for 1 or 2 weeks I want to go to Australia, Canada or the US.

Also a lot of Europeans would like to visit those destinations... For example, every summer a lot of Germans arrive here in Italy in order to have a beautiful and relaxing holiday. I ( an Italian) would like to visit many other European countries because I think that my continent is one of the most interesting and beautiful in the globe, and personally I have a city which I love particularly: Paris. The advantageous thing of Europe is that it offers a lot of different possibilities for your holiday, practically you are spoilt for choice. Apart from Europe, I think that some of the most popular destinations are all those places with wonderful beaches and sea: Maldives, the Caribbean Sea but also Egypt ( Red Sea). Regarding the USA, basing on my experience, NYC, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco are the most popular destinations. Another part of Europeans can be found in the Far East: India, China, Japan... I would say that you can find us in every continent :-) Anyway, you are not very fair when you say that we are on vacation everyday, probably you have never seen Rome, Paris, London or any other capital during the working days, they are so stressful... Bye ^^

Do you really think that we're on 'vacation' every day by living in these destinations... God you're really out of touch man. That was a dumb thing to say. I'd say my dream HOLIDAY would be somewhere like Peru to see Macchu Picchu or maybe somewhere by a beach, The Gold Coast in Oz. By the way, just because we live in Europe doesn't mean we don't go away somewhere here. It's nice to go to Florence or Paris or Amsterdam (well, not if you're not a smoker...)

We're not on holiday every day, we work for a living, most of us. It's like this: those who live in the cities in the mountains like a change of scene, so head to the more rural coastal areas, and vice versa. In the past few years, a lot of Irish have travelled to the US because the exchange rate was so favourable. I live in a rural part of Ireland, so I like going to cities - for the change of scene. However, I wouldn't be so keen to live in a large city. My dream holiday would not be visiting the US, it would be visiting southern Europe.
