What is the monthly average cost of living in Norway?

  I checked a local advertisement site called Finn. Groceries are very expensive, but depend on your habits. My boyfriend and I spend almost 1000 NOK per week here, whereas we spent about £40 per week in Edinburgh, UK (so we pay more than twice now for similar purchases). Minimum 4000 NOK would be my recommendation for a couple with a baby. Tax depends on income, the standard rate starts at 36% although it can be less if you work part time. For high paying jobs, it is closer to 50%. There is also a national insurance contribution, but in return healthcare is very low cost and there is a low cap on what you can pay in a year. Education is free through university for residents. There is a child supplement given to parents every month, but I'm not sure if immigrants receive it, or how much it is. 20 000 NOK per month would be my estimate for the minimum after-tax income for comfortable budget living for 3 people.
