Best location for a cheap european holiday?

  • Looking for a cheapish holiday destination in Europe for summer 2012. Will be a friends holiday, prices preferably under £600 p/p. We'll all be about 20 and its our 1st friends holiday so looking for beach's, day entertainment and evening entertainment. Any suggestions? Mainly looking at Spain, Italy and Greece so far.

  • Answer:

Hello) Well, i totally agree, in the 20ties you must go to Italy, Spain or Greece on holiday) Budget - 600 Pounds is possible, just don't go in August. Beginning of July would be prefect, you have cheaper prices - Destination: choose you destination based the best airline connection, since airplane ticket might be the main cost Destination: - it depends on what you are looking for. if you prefer a messy place with discos with best Djs or a quite islands with wonderful sea would do (i guess you would go for the 1st option) - in italy you should look into Rimini and Riccione (best way here is in a 2/3 star hotel with lunch and dinner included, you can manage with 60-70 euro per person-night), in Spain to Ibiza or Magaluf (best way here is to rent an apartament, can get cheap deal but then you need to manage your food), in Greece to island of Mikonos (can get good resort for 30 euro / night, need to add food and scooter to travel around. wonderful place for beaches and fun, but very expensive drinks, a drink come to 8 or 10 euro - if you prefer quiter places, than we have lot of other choices, but i think is not your case ciao and enjoooy))

Spain isn't cheap any more. Italy is pricey anyway, always has been, especially in the north. Greece can be OK. Check out Slovenia for scenery, lovely little towns, totally safe and europe's little gem. For for a beachy place with loads of Brits, Germans French and everyone else going for the nitelife and cheap food and wine, Bulgaria. Loads of resorts, cheap living. Years old answer but it's still the same...3 out of 5 for Slovenia, out of all the other places that could have been mentioned. Croatia or Bosnia. Very cheap and very scenic and Croatia is very beach-y.

Europe can be very expensive now that many countries in europe have adopted the euro. Even some countries that do not use the euro such as Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and the UK are very expensive. Eastern Europe used to be cheaper but many have joined the european union and adopted the euro. Estonia, Latvia and Lithiuania is cheap but very rural. Hungary and Poland is actually affordable. Also try Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. These are cheap places to visit and you are still able to see the european influences in the city.

Hy!I write from Italy. If you want have fun and go to beaches, you have to come to Italy or Spain.Spain is cheaper than Italy.I went there this summer and it was wonderful.People there are very polite and you have fun above all if you're with some friends. Depends on the town you would like to visit in Italy, the price could be high.I mean Rome,Venice,Milan...they aren't cheap! But Sicily is really amusing in summer...sea,sun,dance. Except them, you could go to Paris but I really don't like it. I hope I 've been helpful. Good summer

With the € crisis in mind I suggest an non € destination, Somewhere in eastern europe like Latvia, Lithuania or Estonia. Spain and Greece are on the well trodden tracks, Most of your mates have probably been there so ask them. Italy is less Chavy and in my view a better choice if thats what you want.

Chk on line the eastern side of Italy south of Venice. Lot of towns with hostels near the beaches. The Adriatic is very warm in the summer. Youth hostels always know where to go for night life and cheap food.
