I was told that I am allowed 2 pieces of check-on luggage and one carry-on for travel to Belarus. Is this true

I fly 8/19/06 to Minsk, Belarus. What luggage am I alowed to take? How many pieces? What weight? What size for the carry-on?

Answer:
A person can import for free only 50 kg (110 lbs) of luggage with the estimated cost of its contents not exceeding 1000 euro A 30 per cent due is levied for extra luggage, but not less than €2 per 1 kg. Within these limits you can bring with you for free: * 1 liter of liquors (for persons over 18) * 1 liter of beer * 200 cigarettes, or 200 grams of tobacco (for persons over 18) * 5 jewelry items * 3 items made from natural furs or leather * 1 watch * 4 tires (You are not allowed to bring liquids on board in USA, but you can buy all of this if you want in Europe airport where you will make a transit) Some airline companies may allow you to take more then 50 kg of luggage (2 pieces), so take not more then 50 kg (2 pieces together) or you'll have to pay extra. The size of carry-on are depends on you airline company, so check there website or look on your tickets cover. Have a great time in Minsk!

Eugene is right, and be very careful when packing, as customs can be very strict, especially about weight. Don't pack a carry-on as this will most surely put you over the limit. When you see the customs agents and their big scale and x-ray scanner, you'll feel a sense of utter relief that you listened to Eugene. And have fun, the country and the people of Belarus are truly most fascinating and unique.

2 check-ins less than 50 pounds and a small carry on that shouldnt be bigger than a briefcase. No liquids allowed in the carry on.

That is almost always true

That's pretty much a standard for all airlines no matter where you're flying. Bags shouldn't be over 50lbs and the carry-on must be able to fit either under the seat or in the bin above your seat.

right, and remember that now you cannot take any personal stuff with you inside the cabin.
