Answer:
It can get very hot but obviously there will be a big difference in the temperatures in Northern France compared to those on the Mediterranean Southern coast. At the end of June, 2011, I had temperatures of 41*C in the Auvergne region of central France.

The north is alright, but south of Paris is far too hot.
