Where can I major in both TESOL and Japanese?

Can I teach TESOL in Europe (like France, Germany and Spain) with these qualifications?

  • Certificate IV in TESOL (from the Australasian Training Academy) B.Arts/B.Education with majors in Education (Secondary), English and History. and 3 years teaching experience including in an Intensive English Centre and TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

  • Answer:

To work in Europe you need to have a job organised before you leave home. The problem here is that European employers need to prove that there are no European citizens available to fill the position. And that's quite difficult where TESOL positions are concerned, as there a so many British and Irish people fully qualified to fill these positions, without needing visas.

The qualifications are fine but the only problem would be your work permit. Presumably you're Australian but to teach in Europe you'll need to have a passport from an EU member state. If you don't have one it is not impossible, but just pretty difficult to find work unless you are there in person.

Those qualifications look good, but it really depends on your nationality. EU nationals get first dibs on any jobs going in EU countries, and what with the UK and Ireland having plenty of native speakers of English, they are employed first. Sorry.
