ok so i know this is a weird question but i really need help, heres the situation: My mom and i were offered a trip across europe and its free for both of us but i can only go if she goes. and SHE DOSEN'T WANT TO GO!! she's stressed out about the 11 hour plane ride mostly, and shes not really that adventurous at all...what can i say to get her to go??? i have tried the "its an over night flight, you can watch movies, we can play cards" and the "its a once in a life time opportunity!" but she's not convinced!!!

Answer:
I've been to Europe a dozen times from the states. Also to Asia and South America several times. The flights are safe...as all flights are. Let her know these facts. Flying is, BY FAR, the safest means of travel...millions of people travel EVERY DAY! Tomorrow, ask her to consider this...have her realize that it's Sunday. Tell her that millions of people are flying and thousands of flights are in the air RIGHT NOW. Then tell her to keep her ears open all week and see if she can hear ANYTHING ANYWHERE about a flight going down. Chances are she will NOT. Now somewhere in the world in a week a plane will surely crash, but most likely not a larger commercial aircraft like you would take to Europe. Finallly, tell her that last year, 2011, was the safest year EVER for air travel...that is a fact. Have her look it up. If nothing else, bring her to your computer and have her read this message...and especially the next few sentences... Mom- I work in the travel industry and have traveled the world my entire life. Traveling and seeing the world is part of living. It's an amazing treat to be able to immerse yourself in cultures around the world and see the sights, taste the food and enjoy the people from other countries. The planet is an awfully big place. It would be a shame to keep yourself or your child from seeing as much of it as you can. Air travel is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH safer than driving around your city in your car. Trust me, that is an absolute certainty. You should have no worries about air travel. The planes are very well maintained, especially on longer flights. The planes are comfortable, they serve food and show movies. Get you and your kid on a plane and go see the world. Europe is an amazing place...please don't keep yourself from such an amazing trip! Hope you go...you will not forget it and it will change you and your child's life! Cheers!

I'm sorry to hear this. Do you need a parent to go or just an adult, cause I'd totally take a free trip right now. Seriously though, maybe you can show pictures of all the cool places and things that you would see? And an 11 hour plane ride? That is not so bad....she can have a few drinks and fall asleep, or get some valium from a doctor to deal with serious anxiety.
