Touring Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. Where would you go?
-
I'm doing a project and my assigned area is the Northern Mediterranean area (Portugal, Spain, Albania, Andorra, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, France, Monaco, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Malta, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey) and I have to create an itinerary that includes 10 destinations within that area to visit, and I have to justify my choices. This is where I'm turning to you. If you could go to those places, what would definitely go see? What would you refuse to miss out on? I'm looking more specifically the five in the title, but if you have a really good one I will use it. If you can, tell me what, why, and where this place is. Thank you for your opinions! =] They'll help!

Answer:
1st: France Reason: I live there, and there is the best food you can get in the world there! France also has the Eiffel Tower! 2nd: Spain Reason: You can speak Spanish easily and it is a very complexe, (err, grande and great) country. 3rd: Vatican City Reason: It's the smallest country in the world, counting 0.7 miles! 4th: Greece Reason: It's an ancient civilization and I would like to discover new things there.

I would start out with Turkey first. Turkey is truly an evolving country, on the cusp of Europe and Asia, it has beautiful sights (the coastline) and tons of history. Then, I'd cruise on over to the Greek islands. They have the most breathtaking views and they are rich with history and culture, (personally my fav for obvious reasons!). Then, I'd say go up to Croatia. I know you asked to focus on the 5 you listed, however Croatia is truly underrated and another breathtaking view. Then you can head on over to Italy-Venice or down the coast to Amalfi and then hit Malta and head up to France. Just my opinon, but that's how I'd plan it out :) good luck!

As much as I love the sites of France, I am not a fan the people. France was my first destination outside the US, I found the French very snobbish and somewhat racist. I did enjoy the food and castles though. Italy is just a beautiful place. The people are great and the food is wonderful. You have to visit. Spain is a must as well as Croatia. Greece and Turkey are places that I will visit very soon. Please remember that before traveling you should do as much research as possible. It is always better to try to become a local than an outsider. Just like here in the States, people will try to get over in you because yopu don't know. Dining in other countries is different as well. We want things now but please be patient.

Sounds really cool, definitely go to the hotspots like the Coliseum, Sacred Family church in BCN... If you need to booked places to stay you should check out http://www.holistay.com/ or even the big sites as they sometimes have deals. Have fun!

It depends on if you want variety! I have not been to a few places that you have listed so I can only comment on those I have ( which are spain ( well a part), Croatia, Slovenia, France, Italy, Vatican City) If you go to Italy you could see both Vatican and San Marino. eg vatican city is located within rome. Some places are large and will need time to explore, while others are very small ( eg Andorra, Slovenia, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican) and need very little time and there is in comparison little to see. Spain, France and Italy will give you a lot of offer...I understand that Turkey is soooooo different to other parts of Europe and is worth a look for the change of lifestyle...so the 5 you have chosen are a good choice from my perspective, but if you wanted more Croatia is great and rates as one of my favourties!! Amazing coastlines eg crystal clear water. In France I recommend Paris...it has so much to offer ( eg Eiffel tower, The Lourvre, Versailles, Pere Lechaise cemetary ( this is amazing!!! with lots of famous people buried there and has generally huge, ornate and elaborate "headstones" ), Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle. In other parts of France there is this amazing area in central France around the Lot and Dordogne rivers. There are lots of stunning little medieval villages that look like they are out of fairytales! eg Rocamadour, St Cirq lapopie. Italy has so many places to see eg Florence is the base for renaissance and has michaelangelos David, amazing museums, etc, Venice is so different to others, rome has the roman architechture...... lots!!!
