How much would it cost as a college student to travel Europe for 3 months?
-
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Europe for three months next January to March. We are wanting to visit England, France, and Italy, but if there was any way to visit Germany or Spain as well without going over our budget we'd like to do that too. We have no set plan, nor want one. We want to do what ever we feel like that day. So we are very open to ideas and other places to go. We figured winter would be the cheaper time to travel, plus we love the cold and snow so it'll be a win-win. We will both be twenty years old once we leave, which means we will not be able to rent a car while there so we will have to depend on public transportation. But we will be staying in the student hostels so that will make it cheaper. So my question is, what should we be considering into our cost of travel? What would a general cost to be there for three months? Would $10,000 be enough money to travel comfortably? As a side note, the cost of a flight for both of us would be about 2,000 together.

Answer:
Serious i don´t think that this is enough money for 2 persons. I mean lets do the maths. After you paid the flight you only have 8.000 left. This leaves 44$ per day for each of you if you want to stay 3 month. And with 44$ per day a person won´t get far in europe. (just for example the official existence minimum from the state for my european country is abou 700 euro = 938 $ per month for a single person). This means it is not possible to live a month and pay bills in this country and still be able to eat and sleep in your own room below this. And 938:30= 31$ per day! And now consider that you as a tourist have to rent a room + want to travel with $44 dollars a day, Not possible.

10000 is more than enough money. Just make sure to not eat at expensive places, and buy lots of souvenirs and trinkets. You both can survive fine!! 8000 is a good set amount. I would also say try saving a little more just in case!
