Place to go in Europe on a young couples holiday..?
-
Hi Forum, I wonder if anyone can offer some advice? Me and my partner are looking to go on our first holiday on our own. We are mid 30's and very much out of the days of clubbing the nights away - we're looking for a nice all inclusive resort that is on the doorstep of a 'medium' amount of nightlife. Nice restaurants and pubs/bars, that sort of thing. Can anyone recommend from experience? We are really not fussed where in Europe it is - we'll be going middle of April so we know its not going to be HOT, just high teens I guess. We are struggling to find something thats affordable, and in a good location, Any help appreciated.

I like all of the cities recommended in the other answers, but you have asked for an all inclusive resort---for that reason, I recommend you go to Cyprus. You can book through Thomas Cook if you don't want to handle it direct. The resorts there are all inclusive, modern, relaxing, and have beautiful pools and the sea. A short distance into the town Paphos (by bus, cab, or walking) will give you all the restaurants, pubs, clubs and karaoke bars you'll want. Just in case you want a little bit of a museum-ish outting, there are ruins and mosaics to see.

I would say Paris (the city of love), Barcelona, Rome or Florence

I would suggest Prague or Budapest, both are lovely, and big enough so you can easily avoid the knacker stag parties. Could I suggest that you NOT do resorts? They are boring, and you don't really get to meet any locals or savour any true local atmosphere. I find that if you book your flight and your accommodation separately, you get much better value. If you're worried about getting from the airport to your accommodation, most places will happily arrange for a driver to pick you up from the airport and bring you right to the door, for not very much (often better value than taking a taxi). This is a good website for all kinds of budget accommodation: www.hostelworld.com I've also heard that Dubrovnik is not that expensive, but I've never been there myself. My sister-in-law was very pleased with it.
