Does Romania have socialized medicine? Is it free?

• Is Galati, Romania a safe place to visit or do they have gangs, or a Romanian mafia who find Americans and try to rob them or hurt them: do they hate Americans in Romania? Is Constanta, Romania an expensive city to live in, that is, to rent a small house or apartment and what is the cost of living compared to the rest of Romania? Is it hard for an American to obtain medical insurance in Romania? Do the people in Constansta just wait for the American to come so they can rip off the Americans? Is Constansta a "tourist trap"?

  Ok... let's start little by little. Romanians dont hate Americans, they love them!! So, there's nothing to worry from this point of view. So, take all hte ideas about he mafia out of ur head - that is only in the movies!! As all cities across the world, there is no exception with the Romanian cities. I think that you are safe as long as you make yourself safe.- keep you money in safe places, not in ur back pockets, dont show you have money on you.. Galati is a nice city - really close to where i live. i used to go there every weekend with my friends, so there's nothing to worry! About the rip off - well, it might happen - but dont think that this is a common thing. U have to think a little bit too - if somebody asks you for 20 euros for a beer, of course that is outrageous!!! So, think twice when somebody says anything like that. Learn to say NO..and dont give money to beggars on the streets. Constanta is not a toursit trap- there are plenty of tourists there in summer time!!! imagine that nobody will go there if it were a tourist trap. About the medical insurance - i dont have a lot of information on that, unfortunately. if u want to know more, dont hesitate to send me an email.
