Travelling through Europe - Infinite Questions?

• I am currently 16 years old and plan on going travelling through Europe next year in the summer. By then I will be 18 years old and I plan on doing this with a friend of mine. Here's the catch - I have absolutely NO idea where to begin. I do live in Europe, but not in the mainland, I actually live in Tenerife (island off the coast of Africa). I plan on travelling for 2 months and visiting places such as: Amsterdam, Venice, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland, Prague, etc. Some help with planning would make me eternally grateful as I have no idea where to begin. Money is, of course, an issue and I would like to keep it at a minimum cost, but I DO understand that this will be expensive... or at least I think so. How many places should we visit? How long should we stay at each of these places? Train or plane? What do we take with us, suitcases or attempt to stick to backpacks? TL;DR: Travelling for 2 months in Europe, where do we begin.

  Consider one thing at a time. How much money do you have? How much can you afford to spend each night for accommodations? You can go to a travel agent and see their guided tours. That way you will get an idea of how to arrange your trip. Not have to use them, but get some ideas. Think of your trip exactly how the travel agent would: transport to and from at each step; sleeping accommodations; meals; touristy things to do. Usually you can find some really decent city tours online and sign up for those. That would give you an idea of what to do and see. Doing a guided tour is ideal for your first trip in that you would gain insight into what is really important to you.
