Answer:
Well I can assure you that we don't all have a pound sign on our keyboard which is what is inferred by the first answer Here in the Netherlands we use the Euro but on my laptop the only currency sign is the $ (shift & 4). The Euro sign is not standard on either my laptop or desktop keyboards. To get the Euro I always simply use 'Alt' and '0128' (on the numberpad) and this produces the € sign

Most do, since $ was an ASCII symbol and all ASCII symbols and characters appear on most keyboards. The $ sign is also used for various purpose in many computer languages. Local currency symbols may also appear on the keyboard, things like £ (pound, lira), ¥ (yen, yuan), ƒ (florin, guilder), and € (euro). Most keyboards outside of the United States and Canada have an Alt Gr key instead of the right Alt key. The “Gr” stands for “Graphic” and pressing the Alt Gr key along with a regular keyboard key produces another symbol. The character to be produced is usually embossed on the key to the right of the main character. There are also Shift-Alt Gr characters. Accordingly these keyboards produce more characters directly from the keyboard than does the U.S./English Canadian layout.

It depends on the specific keyboard. The one I'm using here now has both the $ and £, but this is the same as an English language keyboard. Keyboards oriented for other languages don't all have the same layout and the positions of the letters may be different. Some of the internet cafes here in Italy have several different keyboards at different workstations - it can take a little getting used too.
