Is what History Channel says about Russian people is false?

  • In the History Channel, they show many documents about USSR and Russia with information that seem to outrage users in Yahoo Answers especially Russians. A summary of What History Channel Documents Says: Russians today no longer today care and most of them are trying to do their best to escape the country. In fact I read many Russians are willing to leave their country through dangerous shady routes where they may end up being trafficked to foreign nations to be enslaved to do manual labor with no pay or even forced prostitution!I even read that Russian who manage to go to Europe and successfully get educations forget Russia completely and despite having the ability to do so don't give a **** about going back to help improve the conditions of Russia!THey only seem to care about themselves and would rather live selfish luxurious lives! Back in the Post World War 2 era specifically in 1945 -late 1950s,Russians were so damned proud be Soviet citiznes and believed their country the USSR to be the greatest in the world!!I read how young Russian children were willing to stay in the USSR to help continuing make their country powerful and Russian women telling their children to be proud Russians and that Russian women were willing to stay in USSR rather than move to capitalistic countries where they could have lived easy lives!I remember reading that not only were they were willing to stay in Russia and help their country but that around at least 98% of Russian young males were willing to give their lives for Russia and were willing to join the Soviet military and fight and die for the USSR in the case of a war! Quote from one of the History Channel documentaries about the Soviet Union: ''The Sputnik has just launched.Literally this was the Golden Age of the Soviet Union and it was a wonderful to time to be a Soviet citizins.Millions of Russians were so patriotic and loved their country, willing give their lives for the USSR. No other era before in history nor afterwards were the Russians filled with such pride in being Russian and had such strong love and willingness to sacrifice for their Motherland.'' . History Channel WW2 documentary ''The Soviet Union has conquered Berlin by the end of 1945.Literally in Moscow and every other major city in USSR,there were big parades and celebrations of winning the war.Celebrations were held in honor of those who died for the Motherland.Literally on the streets of Moscow and Stalingrad optimistic Russians celebrate.Millions of Soviets soldiers especially those who fought to take Berlin were filled with such tears of joy and love for their motherland, finally having defeated the racist Nazi regiment and seeing so many of their Brothers in Arms die in the process. The Soviets soldiers march hoping that future generations of Russians would remember them and be thankful for the sacrifices they made in the war to protect the motherland. These same Soviet soldiers hope that future generations of Russians will be willing to suffer and make the same sacrifices in order to protect the Motherland and keep her powerful if a future invasion of Russia in the same scale of Operation Barbarossa were to occur again.'' In many interviews with Soviet veterans in the History Channel ,veterans of WW2 state their disgust with how the current generation of Russians have forgotten them and are taking their sacrifices for granted. They are even more disgusted of how Russians are desperately trying to escape Russia risking being enslaved or sent into prostitution and how many Russians don't care about what happens to Russia any more. These veterans are in such anger these Russians don't appreciate their sacrifices. Russia's pride have been destroyed now according these documents.

  • Answer:

You have incorrect information. According to polls 79% of people would not want to leave Russia and live in another country. Think about it and want to emigrate 9% of respondents. Even as much before going to leave the country, but I have changed their minds. He lived in another country, but came back 1% of the respondents. Difficult to answer 2% of the citizens.

1. Russian people may have been proud to control an empire, but others under the Soviet boot (Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Ukranians, etc) had different opinions. 2. Surely some Russians knew about Stalin and the Gulags. 3. Russian Jews weren't so well off. 4. Some may remember that Stalin was Hitler's willing ally until Hitler betrayed him.
