Why do I have to prove old address for my passport?

What area of the U.S. Embassy in Russia, Moscow would I find out if one has a legitimate passport already?

  • Here I go again, I have met a wonderful Russian lady this time, and of course she loves me, and says she already has a passport, so far she checks out on phone, an other things, but she mentioned she already had a passport, so I figured that would really prove she is up and up, wouldn't it give her age, and name and address? I have those things. where can I get that information, so I know it is not a scam?

  • Answer:

Ask her to send scanned copy of the passport. Russian passports are very well protected against forgery.

Here is the address: Russia, American Embassy Moscow, Consular Section, 21, Novinskiy Bulvar, 123242 Moscow, Russia - 8 (495) 787-31-67‎ But... Usually it is not allowed to give such information on telephone. Also, if you like to ask somebody about a Russian citizen, you should better ask a Russian authority. But I don't believe that they will help you.

You sound like an easy target to scam. I'm on her side. No it doesn't have her address, and the Embassy does not provide the services you ask for. I advise you to stay local, yokel.
