How to write a Letter of Invitation for a Russian friend?

  • I have a Russian friend who wants me to write a Letter of Invitation so she can come and stay with me. She will be supporting herself. Can anyone let me have a template. I own my own property. Do I need documents to prove this and what supporting documents do I need attach. Can the Letter of Invitation be sent to her via email. I am a British Citizen. Can anyone please give me advice.

    It doesn't have to be too long. Just a few sentences stating the purpose of the visit, where they will be staying (your home address), length of visit, your relationship and length of time you have known the person. You won't need to prove ownership of your property or financial status. As for email, I don't know. But I would personally send the invite by registered post to Russia. The British Consulate looks at the probability the person will return to Russia (employment and financial status). Previous trips outside Russia are a plus.
