How to pronounce Russian Words?

I can't pronounce Russian! How do you pronounce these lyrics?

  • 1. This is the original song (Youtube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkXzh4L-tmU 2. And these are the lyrics in Russian (repeated throughout the song): Мир был черно-белым. Только небо синее. Черные люди и животные в здание, я был единственным белым. Был один. 3. I managed to turn them into roman letters: Mir byl cherno-belym. Tol'ko nebo sinee. Chernye ljudi i zhivotnye v zdanie, ja byl edinstvennym belym. Byl odin. 4. But the following part does not seem to correspond to what she's actually pronouncing: ja byl edinstvennym belym. Byl odin. The Question: Is she really singing those lyrics, or are the lyrics missing some extra words? And how exactly do you pronounce this part?

  • Answer:

I'm a native Russian speaker, and I need to tell you that in the video the pronounce is terrible with some Chinese or Japanese (I'm not sure) accent. And I listened video near 5 time and I don't hear this paragraph: Черные люди и животные в здание, я был единственным белым. Был один. Aftre she sang several times this one: Мир был черно-белым. Только небо синее. She sang on Chinese or Japanese... Hope it helps.

to pronounce these russian words, i'll try... Mir byl cherno-belym. meer bill (weak bill, almost "bull") chyerna- byelem (separate each consonant and vowel like "byelem" is not BY EL EM as is spelled, but "b'yeh lim") Tol'ko nebo sinee. "ь" really messes up a word!! tojlka nye buh see nee (j is like a y in europe, as in "jugoslovia") soft sign, "ь" makes kinda a ye sound here BUT EXTREMELY SLIGHT!!! almost "toy l ka" toy sounding like a child's "toy" Chernye ljudi -chyornia (ё is letter "yo"- too often omitted in print!) lyudi (again the j as a y!) i zhivotnye v zdanie, ee zheeVOTEnee yuh vuh zdahn eeuh ja byl edinstvennym - yah bill (1/2bull) yedinstvehnnim (the "...ным" ending almost "numb", but nim. and first letter e is letter "ye" as in yeltsyn, often seen in russia -eltsyn belym. byeh lim Byl odin. bill (bull) ah deen i hope i made sense. i can't spell "ы" in english! (oouee is closest yet ridiculous and probably sounds as ridiculous if one tried to pronounce what i wrote!) and many russian sounds are almost unique to the russian alphabet. good luck!!

type in google translater in google and google will translate the lyrics for you.
