Has anyone been in Ukraine or Belarus?

Does anyone know how much it would cost to rent an apartment in Russia or Ukraine long term (year contract)?

• My wife and I are thinking of moving to Russia or Ukraine for 12 months, I have been to Russia a couple of times and to Ukraine once and my wife is a native Russsian speaker. We woud be thinking of any large city in the European part of Russia (except Moscow or St.Petersburg) or any large Russian speaking city in Ukraine (Kharkov etc) - except Kiev. Ukraine is preferred.Thanks.

  Sorry to say your question is to vague as prices from city to city are very different. But answer your question you have to specify your taste in living conditions. Because you can get apartments Soviet style for about 100 to 200 a month in most Ukraine cities except Kiev. I am sure you would not want that as chances you would have very limited amount of hot water and most likely it would be terrible. You can get a middle apartment for around 200 to 300 and updated and remodeled for 300 to 600. The prices I have mentioned are actually for native speakers and as you will find out that the prices for foreigners are much higher and sometimes people will ask double the price. My other question is how do you attend to stay so long as you will need a Visa for staying for more than 3 months.
