What is the nearest Russian city to Norway on the land border?

Crossing the Russian-Chinese border?

  • What is it like for a Russian person trying to cross the border into China by land? What about Vice Versa? What about 30 years ago when it was the USSR? I am Canadian and have only crossed the USA-Canada border. Can you even compare the two procedures?

  • Answer:

I lived in Khabarovsk which is right across the river from the border. So people go there a lot usually to either health boost at a spa resort which is much cheaper in China. You sort of get a usually week visa from a travel agency, with a hotel stay included. Russian people go there a lot, mostly to buy clothes and other crap, since it's so cheap. You just ride a fairy and they just check your passport, and the hotel stay receipt, which is a type of visa, and er that's it. It's really easy, for Chinese people to get into Russia is, much harder that's why there are so many illegal immigrants working as builders with no contracts and get payed extremely little money. Worse then Mexicans in US. The only problem, is when you come back from China with all your goodies, you can't have more then one suit case, since the ship can't carry too much. Most people however solve that problem by putting as much clothes as possible on themselves. It's kind of funny that everyone gets off looking fat. So most people in the far east of Russia have been to China at least once, it's easy and cheap. When i know how friendly (NOT) the customs people are in the Canadian- American border. God forbid to look a little suspicious, or be smiling too much or something they will automatically assume your on weed. They are especially bad to Canadians. No one really crosses by land, they only recently built a bride to the border, and in the USSR few people traveled there since everyone was so suspicious on foreign people. Don't compare the procedures I've been through both and they are completely different

Nothing interesting. You will not see guns, barking dogs and searchlights. This is not a movie. This bureaucracy (as always on the borders). You must have both a visa.
