How could I pursue a job in Forensic nursing?

Help! Looking for a Job involving Russia?

  • Hi everyone! Please forgive me for how lengthy this post is, but the detail allows you to better understand my dilemma. I am an indecisive 5th year college student who loves all things Russia, holds a Bachelor's in Russian Studies and am looking for a 2nd degree to combine this with in hopes of finding a job that I absolutely love. I have always been interested in nursing and am currently pursuing prerequisites toward that as my 2nd major (and work in a hospital where I enjoy my job). On the other hand I would love to get a job where I can use my Russian on a more regular basis and interact with the Russian speaking population so as not to lose my skills. Unfortunately, these two interests seem so seperate! So lately I have been considering changing my 2nd major from Nursing to International Relations in order to pursue some kind of government job in the Russian arena. I would enjoy traveling for work, but would prefer to primarily work domestically. Another interest I have is Russian adoption and have considered what I may be able to do with that. How could I combine these interests into a job I would enjoy and that would allow me to keep up my Russian skills? Please help! Any suggestions would be SO greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  • Answer:

I'm not sure about the ideas for combining, but as for not losing language skills i know what you mean. I am Russian and English is my second degree, while International Relations is first. I was very concerned with losing my language skills when looking for job. Unfortunately, it's hard to combine everything and have a job that pays well. I ended up working in video games industry, as a localizations manager, I supervise a team of translators and do occasional translations myself. The best way for me to keep my English skills was keeping in touch with English-speaking friends, we talk online daily, and most of the books i read/movies I watch are in English. I hope you can find Russian speaking friends who can help you if not advance your Russian skills, then at least keep them on the same level. Good luck in your career choice!
