• Hi, I will be travelling randomly around Portugal for about 10 days next month and will be hiring a motor home to go everywhere and sleep in, kind of an adventure with no real direction just a full tank of fuel and a sat nav! I was wondering if anyone could suggest places of interest to drive to as I would like to just spend a day in each town/area so I get a real feel of the country better. I'm not interested in clubbing etc just places of beauty and nice places to eat of an evening :) I heard Evora is nice? I will probably land in Faro and end up in the north I'm really not sure yet. I may even use the trains and not hire but that would mean having to find places to sleep every night so it could get complicated and be stressy!!, I'm just thinking things through so any idea's would be great!   Évora is a sleepy village. Faro is a hick town for tourists to go club in. So if you're not interested in this strand of "travelling" (and kudos to you for that!), may I suggest you check out Sintra. Despite being close to Lisbon (a major city), this is a very bucolic, country region, with a mountain range full of verdant forests, Moorish castles and other beautiful spots (man, I sound like a travel guide! :p) The northernmost region is also, as a whole, very verdant and beautiful. And if you can, check out a place called S. Pedro de Moel. It's a small sleepy formerly-fishing village, but it combines the country and beach aspects perfectly and it's a wonderful place to spend a few days in! I have spent many a holiday there for the last 25 years and can't get enough of it every Summer!
