Do typical rude American tourists ever visit Portugal?

If you live in Massachesetts, you should be grateful Americans gave you the opportunity to have the life you have today. I love foreigner people, even if they are ignorant about my country I will teach them something=) It´s very rare to see Americans around here.. most are British.

For my personal experience, most americans who travel abroad are really nice people. They are usually open minded and want to learn about cultural diferences. Rude and unpolite americans are very unlike to travel outside US. I knowed some americans who didn't travel outside their State.

I just want to say something to @Erik, up there. You should do some research mate. You'd see it helps a lot. Portugal IS one of the most visited countries in Europe. It is actually in the top 5. Have you ever heard of the "Algarve"?

In all my years of living there I have never seen rude American tourists. But some Americans are the way you describe, maybe that's why they have a lot of people that don't like them. You are portuguese descent so you can apply for portuguese citizenship.

You should ask this question in the local version of Yahoo! Answers for Spain or Portugal (if there is such a version). Those people will have more experience living there, so they can answer this question much more accurately. Portugal is a less popular tourist destination than some other western European countries. Less tourists implies less rude American tourists, I'm guessing. If you wish you could live there, why not ask your family for assistance in getting a visa?

I do know the type. Still, I guess they don't come much to Portugal... Maybe they usually look for places that seem more "flashy", to the naked eye... There's also the really nice American type, right? I know them too. The Portuguese love to say how we're the most hospitable people on earth, but quite frankly the American may truly be the most hospitable I've ever met (and I've met quite a few: that is Americans and people from different countries in different countries).

The part of the U.S. that i live is not like that, but you must have your reasons to say so. What really surprises me is the fact that you said you never seen one! Also i think you are being rude yourself by assuming the U.S.A. people are rude. You could go live and stay in Portugal if your parents are Portuguese. good luck to you.
