How long is the train trip from Warsaw to Lodz?

How can I take a train trip from Berlin to Krakow, Warsaw, and Lodz?

  • I'm studying German in Berlin and I have a week off at the end of June. I really want to travel to Poland and visit Krakow, Warsaw, and Lodz. I don't have a car and I hate airports so I want to go via train. A lot of the information I find is available only in German and Polish and I'm not fluent enough to completely understand it. I think maybe I should take the Berlin-Warsaw Express, then travel from Warsaw to Krakow to Lodz. Is this a good idea? And if I did this, how would I get back to Berlin, though? Is there a train from Lodz or Krakow to Berlin? If anyone can tell me how to work a stop in the beautiful province of Lubuskie into my trip too, you get an automatic best answer! Thanks for any help!

I would advice to use the time-table information of the German Railway company (DB); it is easy to handle and holds all European train connections. A sample itinerary could be (all by direct trains) depart Berlin Hbf -- 12:29pm arrive Warszawa Centralna - 18:20 (06.20pm) depart Warszawa Centralna - 09:20am arrive Lodz Widzew - 10:48am depart Lodz Widzew - 14:38 (02:38pm) arrive Krakow Glowny - 19:19 (07:19pm) depart Krakow Glowny - 09:47am arrive Wroclaw Glowny - 14:26 (02:26pm) depart Wroclaw Glowny - 15:50 (03:50pm) arrive Zielona Gora - 19:17 (07:17pm) depart Zielona Gora - 13:14 (01:14pm) arrive Rzepin - 14:37 (02:37pm) depart Rzipin - 16:00 (04:00pm) arrive Berlin Hbf - 17:27 (05:27pm) I have just used the Polish names of the stations so that is easier for you to search individual connections; I have always used the main train station of the town. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en .. Btw: Trains from Berlin to Poznan take almost three hours.

I wish I can help - I study in Poznan, Poland and I know there is an express train from Berlin to Poznan which is roughly jus over 1 hour and you can train to major cities from there. Poznan is also a fun city worth seeing. Many students are there and like to go out aswell. It is hard to book train tickets without knowing the language but im sure you arent the only person who doesnt speak Polish and tries to book tickets. It doesnt take much to book a ticket tho, you just say your destination and hope thre are seats to keep the conversation short and simple with your sales person. Good Luck ♥ ps - maybe take some friends so you guys can all strugle with the Polish/German language. you wont be alone then ;)
