Could I arrival in Amsterdam with Schengen visa issued by France Embassy ?

  • Hi Dears, This is Keyvan from Iran, I got a Schengen visa form France Embassy in my country and this visa is my fisrt Schengen visa in my passport, so right now I wanna going to Amsterdam and then after visit my friends going to Paris and at the end came back to my home. So I wanna make sure about this subject, could I arrive in the Netherlands and then go to France ?

    It depends on the conditions on which you got your visa. If on your visa there is a (French language) mention of France only, you can not arrive at Amsterdam before going to France. Otherwise, if you got your visa after submitting detailed travel plans and this is a big change in those plans, better contact the French embassy. You are not likely to get problems traveling from the Netherlands to France, but you could be denied entry into the Netherlands in the first place. Unlike some people think, not all Schengen visa are for all of the Schengen area.

If you've got a legal visa for France, you're allowed to travel to any country, issued in the Schengen zone. There is no official border control anymore, but on trains, and stations, you might be stopped and checked by the Customs authorities, but that won't be a problem. You just need your official document (passport) and this visa, and then you can go anywhere in Europe where you want, as long as you're not planning on going to live anywhere but France.
