What kind of weather is in Poconos these days?

April 2011 weather in Amsterdam?

  • Hi everyone! I'm visiting Amsterdam from 4/12/2011 to 4/19/2011. I've been keeping an eye on the weather report of Amsterdam, and I noticed that there were a few warm days in the past week. But other than that, it seems like it's gonna be just around 6 to 12 degrees during my visit. I was planning to bring some tees with a puffer jacket, but my sister who had been there around the same time two years ago suggested me not to bring my puffer coat because it's gonna be spring-like weather. Can someone in Amsterdam or anyone familar with the weather give me some advises of what kind of clothes I should bring? Please help! Many thanks :)

    T-shirt, sweater and rain jacket is much more use than a T and a warm jacket. Or even a long sleeved shirt instead or as well as a sweater. Jeans are the most used trousers, but you can wear whatever you like. When it is sunny and not windy, 12 degrees overall temperature will result in many spots that are nice to sit with just a sweater over your T, or if you are really lucky, in just your T. Weather in the Netherlands is always unpredictable, we can have sun in the morning, rain in the evening, or the other way round, but the month has started nice and we are having an other warm weekend now. It certainly is spring weather, mostly mild and often with little or no wind. In weather reports they often ignore the wind but in real life it makes a big difference.

April is a strange month in the Netherlands. It's between winter and spring, and so is the temperature. It can be cold and rainy, temperatures around 10 degrees or lower, but also sunny and around 20 degrees or a little higher. It's even possible the temperature will get 25 or higher. So bring clothes you can wear in layers. Than you are prepared for all temperatures. Make sure that you are prepared for rain. It can be beautiful weather but also rainy. And you can always buy clothes in Amsterdam. For example; Yesterday we had a sunny day, but also a lot of wind that made it feel colder. Last night we had freezing temperatures so it was a cold evening and night. But today it's also sunny and warmer than yesterday. But they expect rain and it's getting colder this week.

The most likely weather now seems to be unstable. That will most likely mean daytime temps between 7 and 14 and the occasional shower. I'm not counting on much sunshine for that period. However, this is a sea climate in a part of the year when the sea slowly heats up. Weather is very difficult to predict more than 72 hours in advance.
