Living in Norway but bored sh*tless?

What your problem is? Well it seems pretty easy to diagnose to me (having lived in several countries and Norway being one of them!) - you are not making the effort! You said it yourself, your friends are out & about - skiing, socialising etc and you are stuck at home. Now unless it's a financial thing (but then in which case quit the drinking yourself silly and use the cash to get out) then there's nothing stopping you except yourself Yes that sounds harsh, but I personally didn't settle that well in Norway either, but you are left with a harsh choice - (a) to move on or (b) to get on with it, shake yourself up and get out there. Assuming you want to stay then give yourself a good talking to, call one of your mates, go to watch the footie with him, or even better get him to teach you to ski. In that respect Norway is gorgeous at this time of year as well and I wish I had taken the time to learn to ski because there is ample opportuntity to do so. Sitting at home - no wonder you are bored, and so you reach for another drink and it's a big downwards cycle. C'mon man, get it together and enjoy life. It's yours for the taking so get out and have some fun!

You may be alcoholic. If the idea of stopping drinking goes like this:- "I could give up if I wanted but I don't want to." You are probably in need of help.

Why arent you out in the bars or skiing! When you go away to work in another country its suppose to be about experiencing new things. Put the booze down and go have fun, Your lucky to have a job so just get on with it. Enjoy your weekend. Maybe find a woman!
