Is it possible to go to a college overseas like in Amsterdam?

What do I need to do to make it possible to move to Amsterdam?

  • I'm currently 19 and living in the United States. I decided against going to college because I want a different lifestyle than the typical go to college, get a job, work work work. I want to move to Amsterdam because I want a relaxed lifestyle. I am willing to learn Dutch and work, but I also love smoking weed and partying. I need to know what the steps are that I need to take so that I can move.

    Unless you have citizenship in the EU, you'll need to obtain a visa and/or work permit to stay longer than 3 months. Without formal education companies in Amsterdam will not hire/sponsor you. Not to mention all the legal hoops you'll have to jump through being American. Have you ever been to Amsterdam or abroad for that matter? It takes a lot of planning and money. I've been organizing and saving for almost 3 years and not just fell that it's obtainable. If the main reason you want to move is "weed and partying", you might want to reevaluate your decision. California might be a better option for you. Whatever you decide, don't let anyone stop you.

You need to go to college. No offence, but I am a Dutch girl and 19 year-olds without an education don't make it very far. You can become a waitress or something like that, but it's not like it's gonna be easy or something. Rents in Amsterdam are also very high. What about college in Amsterdam? The Dutch educational system is very good and you'll have lots of time. I am studying for my bachelors degree and I party like, 2/3 times a week. :)
