Why do some people wear shoes in their homes?

Dutch people wear these hard unbendable wooden shoes?

  • So the all the people in the Netherlands wear these HARD-surfaced shoes made out of wood with sharp points on the end? Okay, people in the Netherlands need to know there's more comfortable shoes. One shoe called Nike. Do Dutch people play Tennis in these wooden shoes? How do you run in those shoes?

  • Answer:

Sometimes I watch an American television show. Often I hear people given strong opinions without any knowledge about the subject. Typical American ?? You sound a bit like that. You think people here walk on wooden shoes and never heard of Nike. Telling people in the Netherlands that there are shoes called Nike, who do you think you are.

(I can only speak for the eastern provinces of the Netherlands) People still wear wooden shoes. Especially farmers and construction workers (esp. road-makers). But nobody wears wooden shoes for sport occasions. In fact I live in a city (150.000) in the East of Holland and yet my city is very modern. But some people here and even my neighbour wears wooden shoes.

No... There is a long history behind those shoes, especially in the name association within the meaning. If you would stop trolling long enough, you could probably learn something really cool.

No, we don't wear those shoes every day. Even farmers have given up on wearing them, as they are impractical on today's modern farms. Instead, they wear shoes made of very hard rubber or leather, which act as a replacement to the wood of yesteryear. Hope this helped, JPJ PS — May I just point out that your question is like asking "Do all Americans eat at McDonald's every day?" or "Do all Brits eat Fish n' Chips every day?" — it is completely daft.

Wow, you have a hard time remembering stuff! Like, I've told you in your previous question about Dutch culture, the wooden shoes are history. Nobody has them anymore and nobody uses them. A few old people who live on farms may still have them, but don't use them for Tennis or anything like it. Your taste for shoes is pretty bad, if I may say so. Nike's are definitely history too.

omg you have watched waaay to many cartoons. Dutch people do not wear those wooden shoes. Only in touristy places to amuse tourists. I don't know anyone who lives in the Netherlands who owns a pair of wooden shoes. Only tourists buy them.
