Anyone been to Greece?

Anyone know anything about Greece?

  • My Boyfriend has a brother that lives in Greece. I agreed to taking a vacation to Greece to get a feel for it. However, My boyfriend has a very good opportunity out there for 'us' and would like to move there in a year. I don't have a lot of information about Greece though. I'd like to know what the weather is like. What the people are like. Housing and culture in general. I know its got to be more expensive than living in the states. I just would like to know what the pros and cons are of moving to Greece? Does anyone have any information for me? Its appreciated.

  • Answer:

    Nobody nothing. Sorry.

well, summertime can be hard for you, extreme heat is often the last few years. In winter time not so much cold, i have often heard that Florida's weather has great similarities with the Greek weather.(well, all that before global warming! :P) Well, Greeks like humor a lot, they are friendly but they tend to keep their distance from others when they live in big cities. Generally, if you trust them, they'll trust you.If you love them, they'll love you. They don't like rude people, or fakers. They also love nightlife a lot.Don't deny invitations. Housing? Well, a house can be very expensive for buying or building one.Greeks usually rent a house or a flat, while in the meantime, they raise money to build their own houses.(if they don't already own one, inheritated from their families) You will face bureaucracy, sometimes you'll have to spend a whole day or days for a single paper... Almost all of them smoke. The new anti-smoking law will stop them smoking in June. Almost everyone is Christian Orthodox. There are hundreds of churches/chapels everywhere.Even on the highest mountain picks, or beside roads. Talking about roads..If you are a driver, God help you...If you don't, choose a bus instead of a taxi.Taxis are expensive and in the big cities, the taxi drivers can become real *****, all that everyday traffic is getting on their nerves i guess. You can go to the nearest most popular touristic destinations in the world in an hour... You will learn how to chill out..Greeks are experts in that. Especially when it comes to work. When they work, they do work. But when they find the chance.. And they 'manage' to find chances like these often in very creative ways. Oh! and another thing. They tend to finish stuff in the last minute. We are widely known about this, sometimes it's good (in the meantime, they ..chill out!) or bad (that 'last minute' altitude can cause great queues in banks for example some hours before they close.
