Being resident and being citizen is two different things. You will need a visa to enter any European country. Depending of how long your residency in US is , it will be easier for you to get a visa. For clearing all your queries you should contact the consulate of Italy or Greece in your place of residence

Yup. It matters, not where you are living, but where your passport is from...according to this article, if you have a Chinese passport, you need a visa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_countries check with the consulates for those countries.
