Where to go in France?

Where should I go, France or Greece?

  • I can either go to London (<---england), Caen, Paris, Lyon, Cannes, Monoco,(<----france) Cinque Terre, Florence, and Rome(<---Italy), OR Paris, (<---France) Florence, Venice, Rome, Naples, Bari, (<---Italy) Patras, Olympia, Epidauraus, Aegina, and Athens (<---Greece). My dilemma (besides them all being great places) is that I'm learning french so I want to spend more time in France BUT i also really want to go to venice. Please help and no lectures about being grateful to go because I am.

That really is a dilemma. I think it would come down to how much you want to further your learning of French and of course which culture you want to learn more about. Personally, i went to Greece for a few days, 2 summers ago, and it was one of the most amazing places i've ever visited. The history is amazing (of course), the ruins were unbelievabe, they had great museums, and the countryside is beautiful. The only negative I found was in Athens. They had a few blocks of extreme wealth and then all of the surrounding city was in shambles. This is not surprising though because of their poor economy, but if you have the choice, do not spend the majority of time in Athens when you are in Greece. Also, if you have time for side trips, Delphi (the old and new city) was an awesome site. Have fun and good luck deciding!!!!!!!

Greece your dollar is worth more and good weather

Paris France I nearly cried at the beauty of it all, Greece is full of riots and it's not what it all seems. It's really boring, only boring people find Greece interesting.

Guess Who

Greece.

The second choice. I've always wanted to go to Italy and Greece. I bet they're beautiful. plus you would still at least get to go to Paris and see all the tourist-y classic French things. its the best of both :]

If you are learning french, go where they speak french, if you want to see venice then go to venice. Naples and Bari? You might as well go to algeria. I went to Bary and they shot someone next to me while I was walking on the main street. Naples has 10 feet of rubbish on the streets on a good day.

The embassy report on Athens does state a few truths, but as a citizen of Greece living in Athens its not all that bad. The report makes it appear as if it is a miracle surviving in Athens (due to all the constant terrorist attacks and rioting angry people). Look this is a bit tension-packed period, because of the financial crisis, but it is not that dangerous. I would not recommend a trip to Athens during this period mostly because of strikes of workers (fighting for their rights) in means of transport and other sectors which will make your stay unpleasant. In general though as my piece of advice to any tourist at any given time I suggest that when planning to visit Greece, arranging to stay most of the time at islands (so best time to come is inevitably summer May-August) and staying in Athens for maybe just 2 days tops (visit the Parthenon and a few sites close by). Vacation in Greece is lying on the beach and soaking up the sun, and the nightlife on all the islands is great. So don't come to Greece now, and if you want my advice go to Olympia, Epidavros than a few islands like Crete (!) Santorini, Ikaria (personal favorite!) Sorry I talked so much! Take care!
