Where is Sparta?

Sparta, Athens, or elsewhere: Where would you have lived in Ancient Greece?

  • I'm doing a report about Ancient Greece, and what I'd like to know is where you would have liked to have lived back then and why.

  • Answer:

In my home island Thassos, no more that 2 km from where my house not is. Come to think of it I could use my own name and more or less do the same profession that I currently do!

I would choose Sparta. In Sparta, women had more rights, and with me being a woman/girl/female, that's pretty important to me. I'm not all happy with Sparta being more war oriented than Athens, and if I was a guy, I would pick Athens for its focus on the arts and government, not the wars and weaponry of Sparta. But if any guy is like the stereotypical guy, then they would still pick Sparta to look manly.

Either Pella (for obvious reasons) or East Finchley! Why EF? Well: It would be because I enjoy yellow and light brown triangular Cyppo pasties - made with eggs, cheese, sultanas, and, rosewater. There are known as ''fla-oona's.'' About to become popular in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Richard Plantagenet

Salamis/Cyprus. It was a strong state economically and academically whom always tried to distance itself from the Athens/Sparta madness.
