How long do DNA test take?

How pure is our DNA? Would you be willing to take a DNA test?

  • or would you be too scared? Has anyone on here had one? I think I'd be too scared to take one.

  • Answer:

Hi :D I have answered this questioned a lot of times but I will answer it once again, even though there is a 'danger' to be considered 'graphical' (graphiki). I've already took this test for my four ancestors and the results were surprising. They showed that my two male ancestors were Greeks and the women were something else. So, in my immediate family 50% of Greek gens have survived. So, I guess that what our friends say about 'Greeks not having a drop of ancient greek blood' is BULLSHIT for those who want to moke us with a more 'elegant' way. No one is pure of course. The surprise was that my father who comes from a turkish speaking family, finally turned out to having come from Greece and to be Greek of Phoenician origin. My grandfather from Pontos was of Dorian origin. My grandmother, whose gen I bear was Italian, possibly from North Italy (Teutonian, this is the gen I bear) and my other grandmother was from Russia according to the test. I hope I answered your question. Don't be afraid to take the test! @Min Tous Kyklous: Hey my friend, that was very good, I laught a lot! :DD @Bleda: there is in the USA an Institute that makes this kind of tests for free but you'll get your results in 9 to 12months. But it is for free. I can't remember the name though. I'll send you links (mail).

Ok I'm not Greek and therefore maybe miss the point, but why does it matter if you are "pure" anything? I really don't understand the obsession about it to be honest. I am "pure" my nationality, according to all of the family trees back for 200 years.... but am really not bothered anyway. I am proud of my nationality, but not proud of being "pure". I have see countless questions about DNA (from genuine users and trolls lately), mixing and it mainly being a negative feature. I am married to a husband from a different nationality, culture, ethnicity, so our kids will have a mixed DNA. That doesn't make them inferior (at least in my opinion). It makes them richer for having the best of two worlds, and really hope they grow up proud of their heritage. I for one will do my best to ensure this is the case. Anyway, on a purely superficial level, I actually think the most beautiful people are mixed anyway. Like I said, it's not to insult anyone or start a raging argument, but I just don't understand why in this day and age people are still obsessed with being "pure" anything.\ EDIT - Oops, I almost forgot to answer the question. No I wouldn't be scared to take a DNA, I would actually be curious to know what it stated ;0)

NA snake godess is just working for the cia..and the home security..looking for LITTLE GREEN MEN...... ..>> hides his atenas<<< But seriouslly snake godess.. DNA is really not that pure or acurate it again like any other test can only show u results of what u feed it...\ i mean who is really! 100% pure. and not just for greeks but every one over the world. there is no biggy in taking the test..but i would not put trust in only that test about my self.. AS u said its is amazing how greek can pick another greek in sea of of people ...plus there a certain things u look for ..facial expression give away people + ethics+gesture and even eating habbits can give u away..even to how u dress...

Sure i would, as long as CIA doesn't get involved and make a new top secret folder out of me. I'm in the "Most Wanted" list in some countries. (666 felonies to be more accurate..) who would do the test? Dracula? either way, even if our blood is as pure as a modern person's can be, they'll still figure out something. Something like "Alexander the Great wasn't Greek but.. a Viking"!

Most Greeks today have a pure Hellenic blood, in line with the Ancient Greeks, proven by scientific research in many foreign European Universities. So I wouldn't be scared to take a DNA test, however, I have to admit my DNA is not 100% Hellenic. I already know that. The big problems are going to arise in the near future: with all of these immigrants from the Philippines, Albania, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, Greece is turning into a dangerous melting pot. Dangerous for Greek culture, heritage, religion, language and ethnicity. These are the things that kept Greece united throughout the centuries.

Of course I would take a DNA test. What is there to be afraid of?? Whatever the results of the test, I am still me. And if my blood is mixed? Well, that's life.....and it does not change the essence of who I am. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." National Geographic provides a testing service. Let me find the link and I'll post it. https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Genographic_Project ZOI - - - send me the link for the free test, too.

No, I wouldnt scared to take such test. I haven't had one (I just don't have money that I dont know where to waste) but when I will, then why not? I know someone who had a DNA in here, lets wait to see him/her answering

I'm not interested. Waste of money. If it is for free to take DNA test; why not. If i have free time of course. lol

1. Not pure at all. Who cares? 2. No DNA test can show you all the exact different courses of culture. It only shows big population group movements. 3. I am not scared to take any test, because my genes don't say who I am. My culture does.
