How is the life in Greece?

How has Ancient Greece contributed to todays life?

  • I need to identify atleast 3 major contributions the Greeks brought to the world and how these affect us today. By ancient Greece, I mean it was around the time of Sparta and Athens fighting, Alexander the Great, and many big philosophers such as Plato, Socrates and Aristotle. Any answers would be helpful! Thanks!

Many of their building ideas are used today, right? Like, how they built the Parthenon with the big stone pillars and other buildings like our white house, right? Wasn't Ancient Greece the first to have a democratic government also? you could talk about that.

1. Architecture. Western architecture is based on the Ancient Greek one. 2. Democracy and politics. Both Greek inventions. 3. Western philosophy and most arts as theater and poetry are Ancient Greek things too.

You would need pages just to list the contributions. These are just a few... 1) Most kinds of arts (drama, music, architecture, music e.t.c.) 2)Science: mathematics, astronomy, geometry, biology, zoology, entomology (and all words which end with ...ology) are actually Greek, that is because Greeks invented them. 3)Democracy was invented in Greece (it is a Greek word same as "oligarchy","tirany" and many words that have to do with political systems) 4)Theoretical sciences such as Philosophy, History e.t.c 5)After the Romans conquered Greece they were amazed of them and so they copied everything (architecture, fashion, religion, music, drama, science e.t.c.) Also they based their political system on the Greek, they copied ancient Greek sculptures and works of art. They copied structures such as public baths and academies. They even based their language (latin) on Greek language. Latin is now extinct but all Latin based languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish, German e.t.c.) originate from Greek. Also all slavic languages are directly based on Greek when they where formed in the middle ages. Roman civilization was almost completely based on ancient Greek. Roman civilization gave birth to all modern European civilizations which in turn at the colonization period affected all the world including original civilizations such as the Chinese, the Indian e.t.c. Basically Greece (one of the world oldest living civilizations (including Persia, Egypt, China, Japan & India) and one of the least altered by time (compared to others)) is the worlds long lost ancestor for some and the worlds long lost uncle for others. In each case Greece has changed the way the hole world looks like and if it wasn't for Greece we would still be fighting with bows and arrows and jumping over flames chanting to the gods. Also I just remembered that Greeks also invented economy (Greek word) and many ancient Greek scientists wrote books on economy on which later books were baced
