I would say some old series based on novels of important greek authors : e. g. "oi Pantheoi" (Athanasiadis), "Jugerman" (karagatsis), "O thrinos tis Kandias" (Romas), "Oi emporoi twn Ethnwn" (Papadiamantis), "O Xristos ksanastavrwnetai" (Kazantzakis). Good effort for combining entertainment with essential approach of greek literature...

Dellarovere

Well the most popular during the past two tv seasons was "Para Pente", "Peninta Peninta". There was also "To kafe tis Haras". There were of course others which are a little older but still as good like "Egklimata", "Dyo Xenoi", "Dolce Vita". Edit: somerlo... it really depends on why you are watching TV.. I mean when I have a hard day at work I prefer watching a tv-series that will make me laugh and forget about the tensed day I had, regardless if it's top quality and acting etc... I would also watch Star Channel news... And you know why? Because you dont get to see a bunch of politics or wanna-be politics arguing, talking nonsense,etc... You get to see all trash tv news, and all important news pass by your screen in headers, but without the meaningless arguments and screams... ;) I am not a shallow person believe me, but try to get a look to my point of view a little closer... :) Do note that I said ...the most POPULAR... not of highest quality... ;) No hurt feelings though... Sorry for slightly abusing your Q mate... ! :)

Loxandra, the life of this great woman greek from Istanbul, based on the book of Maria Iordanidou about her grand mother... Dimitri wellcome back

Leonarda

the last two years "sto para pente" made a huge success. but other than just the series than come and go, not many have survived more than a decade. at least that i know of.

I watched "Loxandra" and I really enjoyed it. Maria Iordanidou was a great author, Betty Valassi a great actor too. I agree with Leonarda and also agree with Somerlo about "parapente", I found it boring and silly. I also watched an interesting series, "Dyo ksenoi". Great dialogues.

I agree with Dellarovere and Leonarda. The old series were based on the work of greek authors and people got to know their books through TV. This was an achievement. I personally don't remember all the series they mentioned, I have seen some of them, but I have also seen some epidodes of the rest in a show of ET 1 which makes referrence to greek television, and I've been told by my parents about them. As for "para pente", excuse me, it's a real nonesense. Far beyond my mentality and esthetics.

somerlo

I have the same preferences with Leonarda and Dellarovere. So, another old fashioned in your team.... Add the " I aithousa tou thronou" and ...the "peri anemwn kai udatwn" because it reminds me the old good Greek cinema.

When I think of Greek Entertainment, I think of Ancient Greece. They were way ahead of their times. I Cr 13;8a
