we will be arriving in amsterdam and will be staying there for 5 days, there will be two free and easy days which we want tio visit a nearby country (paris and belgium) and then after our five days we wish to extend for a few more days so we can complete these countries. I hope somebody can suggest on how to do it. we are willing to take budget airlines for swtzerland and italy. 1 day per country. what airlines and train should we get so that we can save money and time. Thanks

Hello, Although it's not quite clear to me how many days you'll be spending in Europe, I think that you should definitely take more time to visit these countries! One day per country, like you say for Switzerland and Italy, is nowhere close what is needed to visit these countries, and I guess you don't want to travel from country to country without sleeping at night? Anyway, I hope you didn't book your flight yet, because it's one tight schedule you've got there :). Take enough time for your trip, it'll be worthwhile! Between Amsterdam (capital of the Netherlands), Antwerpen (Belgium), Brussel (Belgian capital) and Paris (French capital) (, there is a direct high speed train service called Thalys. You can book in advance, use their site www.thalys.com . Single fares are about 80 - 120 euros a person (depends on how long in advance you book), and it takes about 3 1/2 hours to get from Amsterdam Centraal to Paris Gare du Nord (little less than 2 hours from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussel-Zuid/Bruxelles-Midi). This is a lot faster and cheaper than flying from Amsterdam to Paris. (So don't listen to Reggie). As for Switzerland and Italy: Because I don't know where you want to go exactly, I can't really answer what means of transport is suitable. But if you were to go to Rome, I'd recommend you fly from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Rome. There are no direct high speed trains from Paris to Rome. Hope this helps, have a great time when you get there!

Trains. You don't REALLY think you're going to do all that in five days!?!?!? :O You understand that Paris isn't a country, right? It's three hours to Paris. It's just under three hours to Brussels. I don't recall there being a lot of choice between trains...every country has their national train system, and they all link up. It's not like an airline, for which there are many choices. Easyjet is one of the British discount airlines that generally flies into smaller airports, further from cities, so, if you aren't terribly particular, you can probably find something you like that way. So many people think that Europe is the size of Epcot! You can't do it all in a week!

Sorry, to say that but you will need more time for that. 5 Days is too short for it at least you need 10 days.Keep in mind that you will loose about a halve day per country because connections in the airports. I would suggest that you take a travel pass for Europe(for unlimited train fares) you will see more and safe a lot of money.

Hi you are best to fly and yes its cheaper to fly from Amsterdam to De Gaulle Airport and then from there to Brussels this will be hard going as both are very large citys Brussels go from Airport to the bottom level and train direct to Brussels Central and when you get out the main enterance walk to the left hand side down a small hill and at the bottom there are 3 hotels the Ibis is good valule and you are in the heart and 2 mins walk from the Grande Place have a great time shop till you drop hope this helps you ?
