Why won't the applets load on our Yahoo online games?

What are the reasons Yahoo games may freeze up and not load?

  • My friend is having trouble getting Yahoo games to load on his pc (it's working fine on mine). I've been going through some possible troubleshooting options with him, but none of it has worked. I walked him through how to back up his browser, uninstall, and reinstall... no luck. We've tried looking at the plugins and add-ons to see if maybe he's missing some key component, but he appears to not only have the same Flash/Java plugins as I do but even has a newer version of them. I can use Yahoo games just fine... no issues loading them. We both use Firefox, and I believe he's on Windows 7 like me (either that or Vista). Since all other troubleshooting we've done has come up negative, I'm wondering if perhaps he has TOO new a version of Java or Flash and that Yahoo's game platform just hasn't caught up with the latest updates...? It's the only thing I can think of now, after all my other suggestions for him fell flat. Oh, also, he apparently wasn't able to use Pogo.com games either (I haven't tried on my PC)... So whatever the issue is, it seems either both sites suffer from it OR it's an issue on his end that's affecting both sites' usability (which seems more likely, but never know). Any suggestions? :/ We wanted to try to play a game together, but technology is getting in the way! Thanks

  • Answer:

EA who owns and operates Pogo was voted the worst company in America last week. They no longer offer phone support. They offer live chat and email support- which are completely useless. There are thousands of players having the same problem. See this link to the forum area http://games-forum.pogo.com/viewtopic.ph%E2%80%A6 They make it very difficult to find help but when you do find it: they will tell you to clear you browser, clear java, clear flash and try Chrome for your browser. If none of that works they will say either it's your flash or a problem with your computer. They also have a huge privacy issue regarding email addresses. When a member uses Chrome other members email addresses rotate in the jack pot area. AKA members email addresses are no longer private. Pogo's solution clear our browser. By following the instructions from customer service I have now collect over 120 screen prints of another members email address in my Jackpot area--which is now called evidence. I have notified my state's Attorney Generals office, the Better Business Bureau and eTrust regarding all the problems and that Pogo is releasing our emails. All Pogo players should do the same. To reach the forum/help area hit help next to sign out in the upper right, then hit Learn More (it's in blue in the black EA Alert box), from there you have a few options you can search the forum for answers, email Pogo or do a live chat. Sorry I can't help with yahoo games. Hope that helps.
