Yes, I have plenty of suggestions for you. I have cruised on the Freedom and will be going on the Liberty later this year. Most cruise lines will push drinks on you, especially the first couple days. Don't think you have to buy drinks to have fun. If you don't drink all day at home or on other vacations, then don't drink all day on ship. The cruise lines will offer a lot of interesting tours but they will be expensive. You DO NOT have to buy tours to get off the ship in port stops. You can go off on your own and many times in Caribbean ports you can find cheaper tours on the pier. Cruise lines will take lots of photos of you boarding the ship, getting off in ports, at dinner, on formal nights, around the ship. These will be very expensive ($10 to $25) so take your camera with you all of the time and take your own photos and ask other passengers to take photos of you, they will gladly. The ships have internet service but it is very expensive; about $50 to $60 an hour. Wait until you get to a port stop and find an internet cafe. Ask the wait staff and your cabin steward because they generally know where they are. Most of the cruise lines will have you use a hand sanitizer that will be at the entrance of the ship and also at the entrance of eating places. Use it and also take with you a small bottle of sanitizer or some handiwipes to help prevent the flu and the Norwalk virus. here's some packing tips: The dress on ship is casual all day until 6:00PM, so take: -swim wear (at least 2), shorts, tank tops and "T's", sandals, beach shoes, your snorkel equipment if you have it, -sun glasses and sun screen, lotions, -a cap or big hat for the sun, -a book if you are a reader, -your music player, -sneakers and clothes to workout in if you like to use the gym, -good walking shoes, -your camera, extra batteries and/or your charger, -other personal toiletries including tooth paste, mouth wash or lotions. Your cabin will have towels and soap provided, including pool and beach towels, and a hair dryer. It will also have a generic hair shampoo so you do not need to bring that unless you like a specific brand. After 6:00 PM they request that you wear "sports or resort casual" attire. That's attire that you would expect a person to wear in a business office, (like a bank employee), shirt with a collar, slacks, capris, skirt, blouse, etc. Don't over pack , take clothes that you can mix and match tops and bottoms and plan to wear each piece twice. You will likely be in shorts and/or swim wear most of every day so evening clothes don't usually get much wear. Your cruise will have a formal night or two when you can wear your best stuff. The formal nights are REQUESTED not required attire. You will not be denied entry to the main dining room or any other place if you decide not to dress up, as long as you are at least sports casual. - Its best to pack using soft-sided luggage because with space limited in your cabin it fits under the beds better if its not hard sided luggage. - Pack using the vacuum clothing bags (about $20 for 3 at Target) so that you can get more in your bag AND so that if the TSA at the airport opens your bag they can see what's inside without rummaging through your things. -Take a small carry-on bag for the last night of the cruise. On the last evening you will be required to put your luggage outside your cabin by about 2:00 AM so that they can start taking it down to the lower deck for offloading the next morning. So you will need a small bag for your toiletries and your clothes that you sleep in. -If you plan to get into the pools or hot tub as soon as you get on ship (they will be open), bring those clothes in your carry on bag; you other luggage may not get to your cabin until much later in the afternoon. The best port stop in the Caribbean for "do it yourself" beach time is Georgetown, Grand Cayman. At that port you take the tender to shore and when you walk through the security gate there are taxi and mini-vans that will take you to 7-Mile Beach for $4.00 per person each way. A few of the beaches further away cost $5.00. The beaches are free and you can, if you want, rent a chair and/or umbrella. Or just take a towel from the ship and lay on the beach for free. Also, there are change/rest room , a snack bar, and plenty of taxis waiting to take you back to town (for $4.00 each) about any time you want. If you go to Cozumel there is the opportunity to buy a tour to see Mayan ruins, if that's your interest. Its considered the best place to go for scuba and snorkeling. If you go to Jamaica the two main attractions are a river raft float trip (not rapids) and the Dunn's River Falls climb.
