What did you like about Navigator of the Seas from Royal Caribbean?

Has anybody been on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas?

  • My Family and I are going on it on a Caribbean cruise. I have heard it is a top-of-the-line ship and has been recently renovated. Has anyone here been on it and can you give me your thoughts about it. Thanks

First of all you may want to take a look at this RCCL web link that offers a virtual tour of the ship with deck plans and a listing of activities on the ship. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000HWg28O8nN-lAXyt-nybWu5W:12hbioan0?br=R&shipClassCode=VY&shipCode=NV In Royal Caribbean's fleet it IS near the top of their line. The Navigator of the Seas is one of the 5 Voyager Class ships that Royal Caribbean Cruise line has ( http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruis%E2%80%A6 ). All five ships are pretty much identical; same size, same activities, same ship layout. Now while I have not cruised on the Navigator, I have cruised on two of its twin sister ships, the Adventure of the Seas, and the Mariner of the Seas. AND, I have also cruised on both the Liberty and the Freedom of the Seas. I have also cruised on RC's Vision Class ships, and its Radiance Class ships. So I do know the ships and how they compare. The Navigator is like a smaller version of the Freedom Class ships which have just about everything that RC ships have to offer. Only the new Oasis Class ships have more ( http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/home.do;jsessionid=0000HWg28O8nN-lAXyt-nybWu5W:12hbioan0?shipClassCode=OA&br=R ). The Navigator has the pedestrian mall down its center. It has the rock wall, full sized basketball court, ice skating on deck 3, the mini-golf and a golf simulator (for a fee), a roller skating track (free also) next to the mini-golf, a pool deck with multiple hot tubs and a solarium, a great gym on the front of the ship and of course the main 3-story dining room, Portofino and Chops specialty restaurants, and a Johnny Rockets cafe. The main things that the Navigator does NOT have is the surfing simulator, FloRider, and the H2O Zone water park that are both on the Freedom Class ships. It also does not have the huge hot tubs in the Solarium hanging over the side of the ship; but the solarium does have hot tubs. In short the Navigator is a slightly smaller version of the larger Freedom Class ships. I don't know whether it has been refurbished recently but it is still only 7 years old and that's pretty new for cruise ships.

Well, it's not "top of the line" - it's Royal Caribbean, a mass-market cruise line. The ships are nice, of course, and the food and service are OK. Holland and Celebrity [and Disney, of course] are the "top of the line" in the mass-market lines. The luxury lines are truly top-of-the-line and charge accordingly. If this is your first cruise, you'll have nothing to compare it to and will likely love it. You can read what others thought of their cruises on that ship at CruiseCritic.com. Click on "Boards", then go to "Member Reviews" and find your ship.

I haven't been on Navigator, but I've been on other Royal Caribbean ships that are comparable. I think that you'll find that it's a lovely ship, with a great many activities, and that you'll have a wonderful time. Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line.
