Does anyone know about the medical schools in the Caribbean?

Medical Schools in the Caribbean...?

  • I've been hearing a lot about students from Canada going to medical schools in the Caribbean and then doing their internship/residency period in the US, I was just curious to know if anyone has gone through this process and if they recommend it, as well as how it would compare to the med school system in Canada. I've heard that it takes a shorter period of time, but I'm a little skeptical. How are the degrees viewed in Canada or even the US? I've heard of people applying in the second year of their undergraduate degree and they are actually accepted to the schools. I understand that Medical school is a rigorous process, and rightly so, which is why I would like to get all the information possible.

  • Answer:

Ross University Medical School (Caribbean) is one of the few medical schools in the Caribbean that is approved in the U.S. for licensing exams and subsequent residency. Traditionally, this school is for students unable to get into the school of their choice.

There used to be a license mill in Haiti and GRENADA.. but those are medical schools IN NAME ONLY.. you barely learn enough to keep from killing smeone when you come back to the US for your residency.
