What are some innovative airport ideas?

Hotels with good views of airport in St Maarten / Martin ideas?

  • I am looking for a nice hotel in St Maarten in the Caribbean that has a good view of the famous airport (Princess Juliana). We don't want to stay right next to the airport as it may be noisy but we want a decent view of take off's and landings (my husband is obsessed with planes!). Can anyone give me the names of any hotels they have stayed in of average price, preferably on the beach?

  • Answer:

Highly recommend you not stay near the airport because of not only plane noise but also because at night Cherie's is open til the wee hours and if you are on the side of a hotel facing it, you will not sleep at night. Stay a few miles away and visit the beach during the day. Hang on the fence. Spread your towel where you can see them land. This will be entertaining for a while but it is not an all-day or several day experience. Rent a car so you can visit beaches around the island. Orient beach is best. Staying near the airport was the worst hotel mistake I've ever made.

Smitty

If your sole purpose is to watch the planes land precariously close to the beach, then I agree that the Royal Islander is the place to perch. However, Sunset Beach got wiped out last year during the tropical depression that eventually became Hurricane Otto. Unfortunately, my son and his bride were on the island for their honeymoon at the time. A scant two miles awy is another excellent resort that has the private beach, swim up bar and other updated amenities. Granted it's not a walking distance but it's also not as noisy. http://www.diamondresorts.com/Royal-Palm-Beach-Resort-Photo-Gallery Either way, you'll have a great vacation and if you can, get over to either Anguilla (ferry from the French Side) or St. Barts Dutch side) and don't miss Ile Pinel on the northeast side of St. Martin.
