Best currency to take to caribbean from UK?

im in the UK and travelling to barbados next week for 7 days then onto Antiqua for a further 7 days. i no both islands take $$$ and also have their own currency, whats the best currency take with me? im thinking USD as i dont have to worry about having anything left over when i move onto the next island but is that correct of do you get a better deal taking the islands own currency?

Answer:
Antigua uses the Eastern Caribbean Dollar and Barbados has the Barbadian Dollar. You can travel with the EC dollar, although the Barbados dollar is restricted. The US dollar is widely accepted throughout the Caribbean.....although local merchants seldom give you the exchange rate. We always take $1000 American per person per week for spending money. Never had a problem......they love the US dollar.
