What time should i get to the Oasis of the Seas?

  • we are going on the oasis of the seas on march 10,2012 and the boarding starts at 11:00AM and i want to be one of the first people on board the ship so what time should i get there so when i get there there will not be many lines

  • Answer:

I cruised on the Oasis last Nov and the cruise line has a new terminal that it built especially for the Oasis and Allure ships that really speed the check in and boarding processes. They have more check in lines than many airports and you'll go to the line for the deck that your cabin is on; the line will NOT be long at all. Boarding will start sometime between 11:00 and 11:30 AM. But you'll need to get there about 20 to 30 minutes before that to be among the first group boarding. You'll have to drop your luggage with a ship's porter, go through the security check in line, and then go to the appropriate window to actually check in for the cruise. All of that may take 15 to 20 minutes. It's NOT going to do you any good to arrive an hour or two earlier than that because they will not start letting people through security until about 10:30 AM. All you'll do if you arrive too early is be waiting for the lines to start. In addition, unless you are a Diamond Plus member of Royal Caribbean's frequent cruiser club you'll not be THE first to board the ship. Past passengers in the Royal's Crown and Anchor Society frequent cruiser club get to go on first. Now since they do have so many check in and boarding stations you'll not have to wait more than a few minutes after the Crown and Anchor people board, maybe 10 minutes at most depending upon how many are ahead of you. BUT, you'll still be among the first to board and you can go explore and take photos before the ship gets full of passengers.

Well, you can get there at 5 AM but you will STILL not be allowed to start boarding until 11AM and they are not going to leave before the advertised sailing time, so what's the hurry? When you go on a cruise you do it to RELAX and that does not include getting all shook and nervous about getting on board and getting to your cabin.. I played on 2 separate cruises on 2 different ships back when I was younger and I would always get a good laugh from the people who come on board at a half run like they were going to miss something.. my best advice to you is... GO ON ISLAND TIME and that does NOT mean being there to board 2 hours early.

If you really want to be one of the first people on 9:00 A.M. would probably work. There will already be people there waiting as they might have come in on a early flight or some people are just eager to get going. But you will then have to wait for 2 hours to get in. I have found that the lines move very fast and even if you got there at 11:00 it would probably only be a 1/2 hour wait. Check out the web site I am leaving you for more advice on your cruise. Bon Voyage.
