Im going on a cruise in the carribean for the 1st time. Can you answer some questions?

Its a Royal Carribean Freedom of the Seas Cruiseliner. I have some concerns about my own self and wonder if you can help me figure some things out. 1st of all 10 or 15 family members are going together, so I am not alone. Im booked into a cabin on the 9th floor in the middle of the ship. Can you feel the ship rock? Someone told me I should prepare for sea sickness and I wonder if I should be concerned about becoming nauseated from the movement. How do you board the ship. Is it a dock you walk across or what? How do you get off the ship when it docks? How long does the ship usually stay in 1 place? Is going on a cruise in Decemeber any different than going on a cruise in July? Whats the weather like in the Carribean in December? What should I take to wear? Do they have laundry facilities on the ship? Can I bring my own pillow? Any suggestions you can give me will be helpful.

Answer:
First of all, don't worry about anything. I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful time. Your cabin is in a good location. Most of the time, you won't know that you're on a ship. Sometimes the weather is stormy, and the ship becomes rocky. It's more fun than it is a problem. Most people do not get seasick. If you want to be on the safe side, take along a patch or a wrist band. Dramamine will make you sleepy and you'll miss everything. You get on and off the ship at the dock. You walk up a plank and thru the door. Each time you go on or off you go thru security. There are some places where you might have to take a tender. That is a small boat that takes you from the ship to the port. Your itinery will tell you how long you'll be in port. It's usually about 8 hours, but sometimes less. The weather in the Caribbean is in the high 80's. If it rains, it usually is for a few minutes. There's not much difference between Dec. and July. There are laundry facilities. Royal Caribbean usually has a day when you can fill a bag with laundry and pay only $25. But you can only put in underwear, t-shirts, nightgowns. I suggest that you take along travel packets of detergent. There's a small clothing line in the shower. You can bring your own pillow, but I have found that the pillows they give you are very good. Do not take a blow dryer. Each cabin has one. Take along shorts and tops, sandals, good walking shoes, dress shoes, casual long pants or dresses for the evenings. And one or 2 dressy dresses. Make sure you take a sweater or jacket. And of course bathing suits.

im only 16 but i should be able to answer from experience. i went on a royal caribbean cruise to the countries around cuba also including mexico. you cent feel the ship rock its quite large also i had a room over the ocean and could be outside and still didnt get sea sick. when the boat docks sometimes you just have to walk out and sometimes you have to walk out onto a mini boat and be driven to the shore. each stop lasts about 8 hours or so. from early morning to late afternoon. the only difference between december and july would be the climate and weather idk the weather at this time you can bring your own pullow and when i went in the summer it didnt rain or get cold so idk what you should wear. i wouldnt bring anything warmer than a thick hoody

If it is extremely rough out there, you could feel the ship move. When I was on a cruise it only bothered me one day. They do make sea sickness preventative patches that go behind the ear if you want to think ahead... or if not, you can get dramamine on the ship if you forgot it. only problem is it makes you sleepy. Similar to being on an airplane... there is a walkway (covered) that you go across when boarding or at dock. Your itinerary will show you how long you will be in each location. If it says "at port" then you will be at port during those hours. December vs. July... Heat and Crowds. Depending on timing in December there would be fewer children in December (unless at Christmas week. Weather: fairly warm but it is possible to get a cold front. I would bring a variety of sunwear along with a sweatshirt. You will need evening wear for dinner (suit/dress). They do have laundry facilities, but are expensive. I would recommended planning not to use them. Yes, you may bring your own pillow. Have fun, relax and don't worry. Bring lots of money, especially if you drink. Plan for excursions as well. Enjoy your trip.

Cruise ships are really big so I doubt that even if you feel it rocking that it will have you vomitting and that sort of stuff, the rocking might just be slight. I have never been on a cruise but I would imagine that the same way you get on is how you get on. To get on you may have to walk over something like a plank(I have been on boats and ships...but not cruise) As far as I know it stays in one place for a day then moves to its next destination but I think I have heard that it can stay in one island for 2 days(you should ask your travel agency this..they would know best) Yes, you may or may not get less children also the weather would be different. Decemebr weather in the Caribbean generally isnt the same in July. In Decemebr it feels cold to us but to those living in snow prone countires you may not feel a thing. I guess if your pillow can hold in your suitcase then sure. I wouldimagine that they have laundry services..it just makes sense. If you are going July wear light clothing..the same can be said for Decemebr as well since you may not feel the cold! Hope this helps! ♥
