Best holiday location? Warm seas, golden beaches...?
-
I'm looking to book a holiday, to go July/August 2008 time. I would like warm, crystal clear seas, hot sunshine, and golden beaches. I prefer to relax on the beaches rather than do any activites. I have been to Cancun and The Bahamas, and these places give me exactly what I need; however, the flight is very long. I've been looking at the French Polynesia, again, exactly what I need, but the flight is twice as long. Is there anywhere closer to home, (I live in the UK), that gives me this type of holiday? Any personal experience?

Answer:
Come to Cyprus.....we have some beautiful beaches, secluded coves, deep blue seas....and hot, hot sunshine. Great places to eat, great food........and just about four and a half hours from the U.K.

Cape Verde Islands are about a 4 hour flight and have a Caribbean climate. Turkey is very hot around July August but if you go to the right places i.e. not Marmaris you can find some stunning beaches. The Maldives is one of the most amazing places in the world and although an 11 hour flight it is worth every minute of being on a cramped plane. You have beautifully warm crystal clear waters where you can swim with all sorts of wildlife. The beaches are perfect white sand and it is incredibly laid back. Other places I would think about are the Italian Riveria and Croatia, which gets nicely warm at that time of year and is incredibly cheap. If you don't like the long flights I would recommend that you scrimp and save and try to upgrade to Premium, we did this with First Choice when we went to Mexico and although it was expensive it was the best thing that we did. I also recently upgraded on a flight to NY with Virgin and because they were overbooked go put into Upper Class!

Have you ever been to Barbados? Many of your fellow country men go there. it's as you describe. Crystal clear sea, hot sunshire and golden beaches. Dominican Republic or Turks and Caicos is also a beach destination, maybe a bit closer for you. The Caribbean is the closest for the kind of beach vacation you are dreaming of. Good Luck)

Koh Samui, Thailand! Although its more than a 12 hour trip from the UK, it is a perfect holiday island. Not too small, not too large, great hotels and restaurants, excellent beaches and lots of stuff to do, without being too overly touristy or crowded. On top of all that you have the Thai mentality and hospitality and you got the perfect retreat. Landing at the Samui airport alone is worth the trip...
