Which Is a better place to rent a villa?

What place in the Carribean could I rent a Vacation Villa for 7 people?

  • I am looking to rent a nice Vacation Villa, (not an apartment or condo) nothing flashy, it should have a pool and at least 3 bedrooms...near to a beach and either close to a village/city or have car rental available I would also like to have the option of hiring a cook to come and cook some meals It would be a 2 week stay and I am not picky about the location...I would like the price to be between $3000.00- $3500 for the (2) weeks Some of the places I looked at were unbelievably priced at $1500/night~!! that's way out of my budget any help is appreciated especially comments form personal experience.

You're going to have a very hard time finding a villa at that price even in low season. Though I'll say I don't pay full price on villas anymore, have negotiating prices down for past 10 years or so by just waiting until about 4 weeks prior then inquiring on available ones then. You can only do this if you have an owner contact, a villa agency is dumbfounded with any type of negotiating and you'll get no where with them. Best resource is www.homeaway.com I would suggest perhaps you look at Nevis, here's another website with more villas there, good luck: http://www.nevis1.com/nevis-villa-rental.html

when I take the boat to Port Antonia, Jamaica, I go past some really nice Villas that I have been told are very reasonably priced.. I never need one because I live on the boat.. but if I ever did need to find a nice rental villa, I would first look on the internet for Villa Rentals, Port Antonio Jamaica and see what popped up. Port Antonio is on the East Coast of Jamaica and well away from all that nonsense that goes on in the rest of the island

Try HomeAway.com or VRBO.com. Not sure why you are ruling out apartments and condos. $1500 a night sounds reasonable for a place that big that's on/near a beach. You're definitely not going to find anything for the price you're talking about, no matter where you're looking. [You don't say where you want to rent.]

Vacation Rentals by Owner or VRBO website. My family has used them many times for rentals in the US and Mexico. Good site and never had a bad experience. You can modify your search by date, photos, bedrooms and city.

If you are looking for a laid-back vacation, consider Isla Mujeres, an island in the Caribbean. You get there by ferry from Cancun. Check out flip key.com, go to Isla Mujeres and then search for Casa de Las Palmas. It is a fabulous destination and can accommodate at least ten people, so invite some more friends to share the cost. The only draw back is that it is nearer to the south end of the island and all the activities, restaurants, one of the top ten beaches in the world and shopping are at the north end. But taxis are cheap, around 20 pesos. Or you can rent a golf cart or scooters. The walk would probably be 20-30 minutes depending on age, etc. Be sure to visit the Mango Cafe. Check it out! I love Isla. You will too. And, NO, I am not in anyway connected to the property. I have just walked by and admired it many times, but with a party of two on a budget, it is a dream.
