What to do on a Western Caribbean cruise???
-
I'm traveling Royal Caribbean to the Western part of the Caribbean. We have never been and are curious what we should sign up to do. Our stops include.... Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Haiti, and Cozumel....What all should we do in each port? We definitely want our excursions to reflect the island we are visiting...To see and do stuff that you wouldn't normally get to see and do here in the states! Thanks for all the suggestions!

Answer:
I love Grand Cayman. I went to stingray city and it is my favorite excusion of all time. In Cozumel it is very easy safe and cheap to get a taxi and go to the Chankanaab National Park to go snorkeling. I bring my own gear. The stuff they rent is OK, but I like mine better and only I have used it. In Jamaica, I did not feel at all safe. I now avoid any itinerary with that port and if I could not then I would spend a day on board the ship and take advantage of 1/2 price spa treatments or a nearly empty pool. I have not been to Haiti. We took the kids on a Western Caribbean and found one without Jamaica and instead stopped in Belize. The cave tubing in the rain forest was my second favorite. Belize is so unspoiled. Other people on the ship went to Ambergris Cay and said it was amazing snorkeling. Bon Voyage. Hope this helps. PS lets all keep good thoughts for the lovely people of the Caribbean in this hurricane season.

It would depend on how long you'll stay at each port. Usually your there for several hours, but not much time for an excursion. All you really can do is take a taxi and do a bit of sightseeing. Shopping at the local markets is good in Cayman, Jamaica and Cozumel. I've never been to Haiti so I can't say. I don't know if RCL will recommend any excursions because of the time limits. When it's time to sail, they don't do roll call. One thing is for sure, you'll have a wonderful and memorable time. Don't forget your camera. Oh and also, at mealtime, if you can't decide, order both. ;-)
