What to do on a Western Caribbean cruise?

What are some "must-see" things I should look into for my Western Caribbean cruise?

  • We are going on a cruise to the western caribbean in April. We will making stops at Belize City, Roatan, Cozumel, and The Bay islands. If you have been here before, I would love to hear what you thought the best part was. I'm going to book a few shore excursions ahead of time but have no idea where to start, as I have never been to this area. I would just like to have a small list of "must-sees" so I can be sure to do everything :) If it matters, we are on NCL. Thanks!

    I think the No. 1 must see is cave tubing in Sibun Caves Branch Archaeological Park in Belize. It's the top adventure tour in the country. We had a blast as a family. It's a pretty long drive from Belize City, but we thought it was worth it. If you have time in Cozumel, I also would suggest taking the ferry over to Playa del Carmen. It has an excellent shopping district along Fifth Avenue. Cozumel and Roatan are known for good snorkeling and scuba diving because of the coral reefs.

That is just a super CHEAPIE trip.. it's not like it was a real CRUISE . The reason the ships that ply the Western Caribbean are so cheap is, they are more like TRAMP STEAMERS or the Packet and Mail boats from the days of river steam boats. Those ships main business is FREIGHT.. and the reason they go to all the Sh*t ports and the nothing islands is, they deliver mail and freight to those islands. Their PASSENGER business is just a necessary evil to pay the overhead for operating the ships. It really amuses me how all of you people that take those cheapie trips act like you are going on a world cruise and not just a second rate SUPPLY SHIP for the islands.
